About:
Each drum is meticulously handcrafted by Salvador Morales (Entity’s founder) to provide musicians with the unique sonic characteristics and wide tuning range of a Jarrah block snare drum.
Recorded or played live Entity snares articulate every stroke with wonderful mid to low range frequencies that are coupled with a metallic high end, similar to steel snare drums.
Jarrah:
Due to its remarkable density and interlocking grain, Jarrah has incredible projection and attack with a distinctly woody bark.
It’s bold, growly and earthy character suits styles where a powerful and resonant sound is desired.
Block vs Ply Shells:
When you move into the boutique space, you will find block drums. In case you are not sure what a block drum is, we will give you a quick rundown.
Instead of plies that are bent and glued together, block drum shells are comprised of solid pieces of wood arranged in a circle. These pieces are cut and joined into a solid shell.
It is a more natural method of building drums and more costly due to an increased amount of timber while requiring additional build time.
A ply drum typically uses 30% to 60% glue in its construction. Our block shells use less than 1%! This allows the drum to resonate more freely and gives Entity snares a very wide tuning range.
Our Signature bearing edge:
Provides a warm tone with a fusion of crisp, articulate attack.
9MM Shell Thickness:
Provides a balance of sustain, sensitivity and rich tonality.
Hardware:
Trick Multi Position Throw Off: Choice of three positions for snare tension. This allows for small incremental changes with smooth, accurate and quiet operation.
Puresound Snare Wires: Professional quality wires that work beautifully with our block snare drums.
Single point double ended lugs: These lugs provide minimal shell to hardware contact and drastically reduce shell tension and weight. This allows the shell to resonate freely and transparently convey Jarrah’s tonal characteristics.
Evans Drum Heads:
Batter side: UV1 Reverse Dot. Designed for the widest range of sonic possibilities while remaining the most durable single-ply drumhead available.
Resonant side: Snare Side 300. Provides a dynamic sonic range and controlled snare response.
Badge and Signed Certificate:
In addition to the ‘Entity’ badge, the date of manufacture, serial number and Salvador Morales’ signature are included inside every Entity shell.
Finish:
Entity drums are sealed and finished with a unique hand rubbed oil and wax recipe. Sonically, this ensures your drums' voice stays as open and natural as possible.
Visually, it appears as a soft matt finish that further enhances the timbers’ true beauty.
